Gym Hairstyles
It just
might be
Unfortunately
working out isn’t as easy as it once was.
You now have
to question whether you’re exercising at the right time? If you’re washing your
gym kit properly? And are you actually exercising too much? Seriously, it is a
thing and it could be the reason you’re gaining weight.
Well, you
now also have to consider how to wear your gym hairstyle when you’re working
out.
We’re not
even talking about gym hairstyles for vanity purposes here, because the way you
wear your gym hairstyle when you hit the gym could actually be one of the
reasons, you’re losing your hair. Scary, we know.
Hair expert
Anabel Kingsley spoke to The Daily Mail about the hairstyle’s women should and
shouldn’t wear when working out. And we’re afraid to say that your hairstyle of
choice is probably the one you really should be avoiding.
‘Overly
tight hairstyles, such as wearing your hair in a tight ponytail or braid, can
put too much traction on the hair and hair follicle,’ Anabel explained.
This is
particularly bad when you’re working out as the act of exercising can add extra
tension to your hair follicles, especially if your hairstyle is already pulling
at these.
‘Initially,
this can cause smashed and may even pull strands out. If done repeatedly over a
long period of time, permanent hair loss can occur,’ says Anabel.
‘This kind
of loss is called “traction alopecia”. To help prevent this, opt for a looser
style,’ she recommends.
So those of
you who often whack your hair up into a ponytail or bun when you hit the gym
might want to reconsider. Styles such as a loose braid are much more friendly
on your scalp and are still a great way to keep those strands out of your eyes
as you hit the treadmill.
We shared
tips with you on how to cheat your way through wearing makeup even while
working out at your gym. So, now that you have figured out how to go on about
your gym routine makeup, we share with you another beauty piece that might come
handy when you head to your gym.
Keeping your
hair in place while working out might be a little difficult. And if you want to
sport a gym hairstyle that is practical yet stylish, it becomes all the more
difficult. We share with you some uber cool gym hairstyles that you can sport
while your workout at the gym. With these gym routine hairstyles, you’ll be
able to focus on your workout regimen, rather than on your wild bangs and loose
ponytail.
1. Classic bun
A bun is the
most practical and simple hairdo that you can try. And if you have short hair
you can always try the messy bun. To begin with apply some smoothing serum on
your hair according to your hair type. Comb all your hair and then gather your
hair high at the back of your neck and tie your hair using a hair tie.
Twist it and
wrap it around the base of your ponytail and form a bun shape and secure it
using another hair tie. If you see the ends of your strands sticking out of the
bun, use bobby pins to secure tuck them in. Use a hairspray to secure any
flyaway.
2. Slicked-back ponytail
It is not
that difficult to style your hair in this simple hairdo. Start by rubbing some
hair wax through your hair evenly. You do not use too much. Gather all your
hair tightly at the back of your head and secure it with a hair tie or ponytail
holder. Make sure that you secure it tightly so that none of the strands sticks
out.
3. Use elastic headband
Use some
hair serum and tie your hair in a regular ponytail and then use an elastic
headband around where your bangs would start. This will also add an element of
style into your sports look. Try matching it or contrasting it with your gym
workout gear.
4. Side French braid
If you are
bored of the regular hairstyle and want to add something extra to your workout
look, always try the braids. French braids always look cool. Even if they tend
to get messy, the braids will keep your hair in place.
To make a
side French braid, comb your hair and make a side partition and French
braid the side of your head opposite the part until just below your ear. Then
tuck the braid in by gathering the rest of your hair and securing it with a
hair tie. If any end is sticking out use a bobby pin and hair spray.
5. Pigtail buns
If you have
medium length hair pull you hair into two equal ponytails on the side of your
head, closer to the base of your neck. Then wrap your hair in an elastic hair
tie and then pull the ponytails into a bun. But make sure that you tie them
tightly. You can also use a hair band to keep your bangs away from your face.
6. Side-swept pixie
If you think
short hair cannot be styled properly, then the side-swept pixie style is the
one you should try. It will give you a cool messy look and will also be a
practical one to sport at the gym while working out. Start by brushing
out your hair and make a deep side partition.
Now use a
mousse or styling wax to push your hair away from the hair partition in the
opposite direction. Use your fingers to distribute the mousse or wax evenly on
all your strands. Push away all your hair far up and make it look messy, it
will add a dramatic element.
